Week 7: Using the GAME Plan Process with my Students

After reviewing the NETS-S and the NETS-T standards, they are both very similar. Each resource models the complete process of integrating technology into the classroom. The GAME plan is provided for us to see if we are including a well thought and expanded lesson. This relates to both teacher and student standards by sharing an equal correlation between the two. I would use this plan with my students to make sure they understand and are using the standards during instruction. I will want to make sure that I am practicing (modeling) these standards in the classroom and when the time comes, my students are able to do the same thing. I do understand that technology continues to grow, so my students, and myself, will be faced with hurdles on the way. As their educator, I want to make sure we are achieving these standards together and they are able to implement the selected standards within a variety of assignments and assessments throughout the school year.

I agree that modeling is a powerful tool and educators must continually learn about new technology to properly teach their students. The (NET-S ) and the (NET-T) are closely aligned because both teachers and students must master technological skills in this changing workplace. Educators must pledge to become life-long learners to provide their students with the skills and information that they need for their future.

I agree that the two sets of standards have many similarities, and the GAME plan is a good framework for constructing lessons in which we integrate technology. Even if we do not have access to technology every day, we can plan lessons that can be adapted further down the road. At my school, I would really like to see some the restrictions lifted regarding cell phone and Ipod/Ipad use in the classrooms. Students come to us with a basic understanding of how to be safe and appropriate, and they still need our continued guidance. Allowing students more freedom to bring their devices into the schools allows us more opportunity to show them how to use them ethically, and it also allows us to grow as educators. Modeling and making the students aware of the standards helps them grow as well, because they know what is expected of them, giving them a heightened sense of the importance of 21st century skills.
